How can a student get extra help with homework or coursework?
Is there additional transportation provided for students attending before or after school help?
• Students are responsible for finding their own transportation.
• MCT tokens are available upon request for any student utilizing the before and/or after school help. Students can request tokens from the teachers during the help session or see Mrs. Moad, Assistant Principal in the main office.
What can students expect or bring to these help sessions?
SIGN IN and OUT
For before or after school support, students can arrive at any time and stay as long as they wish but will be required to sign in and out. When a student signs out after school, they are expected to leave the building or wait for their ride in the entryway by EXIT 1.
During study hall, students will also need to sign in. Students' attendance is marked as “S-PT” in Skyward for the period that they attend peer tutoring.
BE PREPARED
Each student is expected to bring all resources needed to work on coursework, such as handouts, textbooks, writing utensils, notes, passwords, calculators, etc.
BE RESPECTFUL
Each student is expected to be respectful and kind to all staff, peers and property. All rules outlined in the GCHS student handbook and Media Center guidelines still apply. Use of cell phones is prohibited unless used as a tool for coursework.
WORK QUIETLY
Although students are encouraged to work together, students should work quietly so as not to disrupt others.
Academic/homework help is available to all GCHS students to help supplement and support their learning experiences. These are not designed to be one on one tutoring sessions nor replace asking classroom teachers for help or attending classes regularly. These supports are only available on student in-person attendance days.
